Good morning everyone. Yesterday I made a cute little comic about feeling relieved that this nasty election cycle is over. However, given the result, I decided to scrap it and repost this comic instead.

In summer 2015, my little brother came out to me. A few weeks later, the United States legalized gay marriage. It was an amazing feeling. I was so proud that my country was becoming a more equal and safe place for my loved ones.

Obviously, the tide has changed. Because of the light hearted nature of my comic, I’ve often tried to tip-toe around politics. But today I feel free to state that I’m devastated by our decision to elect Donald Trump. There are so many issues I care deeply about—LGBTQ rights, women’s rights, racial equality, climate change, healthcare—that are now in jeopardy.

With my reposting of this comic, I’d at least like to share my love and support towards the LGBTQ community. You are strong, enduring, wonderful, and you deserve better. Furthermore, I want America to be a place where people of all genders, sexualities, races, religions, and backgrounds can feel embraced and welcome.

We have some tough years ahead of us. But let’s at least work on spreading love and acceptance in our own hearts. My brother, parents (both of whom are immigrants), and friends should be able to feel like their community is a safe and supportive one.

Don’t bother with your #draintheswamp comments. You elected a dangerous, unqualified bigot. I’ve been seeing your poison everywhere for the last few months and I’m not letting it happen on my page today. For today I’m not afraid to block people.

Stay safe everyone, I love you.

Just woke up to see that the UK is out of the EU by 52% to 48% vote ratio. The majority of the ‘Leave’ votes were given by the higher age groups. The old patriots have literally stolen the future of millions of young people just so they could feel like their country was great again. How is this fair to anybody, how?

This keeps getting better; Scotland is going to a second referendum to stay independent from the UK and Nigel Farage broke his promise to spend EU money on the NHS. Well done England, you messed up beyond imaginable this time.

2 suicide bombs and multiple gunshots have gone off at Istanbul Atatürk Airport. 28 confirmed dead so far and over 60 injured. Turkey is a neighbour and very close to home, so I can’t begin to even express how heartbroken I am. May the lives lost rest in peace, and the lives battling to survive and barely grasping a hold on life, recover and heal. Başımız sağolsun.

Numbers have gone up to 31 and 147.

Perhaps one of the most deadly terrorist attacks in the last decade hit Baghdad last night. The death toll is at 200 and climbing by the minute. The victims were mainly families out preparing for Eid or celebrating. People were trapped and burning for hours after the explosion. There is little to no media coverage. No one is mourning, no one believes this is relevant, no one cares. 200 families destroyed. It’s so frustrating. What is it about Iraqi blood that makes it so cheap? Why is our misery okay? Why does the world light up for literally everywhere else? I just want to know why does no one care when it comes to Iraq. Our martyrs don’t get pictures or names. They become a number that people ignore.
